Ravenclaw won! That was inevitable. But what a DISGUSTING display of sportsmanship. I would hope that physical violence other than self-defence isn't the only way of attempting to achieve victory... because it says a lot about your skill in the game itself then.

Christmas turned out to be better than expected. So my brother, Odis, couldn't join us for a Christmas Eve dinner, but at least he was stabilized last weekend. We were able to see him. The better news is that he was able to be discharged the next day.
He's doing better than before, thank Merlin.
The gifts are absolutely beautiful, thank you, everyone. I'm enjoying my holidays too much, I think I might just not want to go back. Of course.. no one in the family would approve.

After several calming draughts and dreamless elixirs, I think I've calmed down a bit, but this is still too upsetting. How long does it take the school to figure out safer ways for us to travel?
I can't even get an owl out to my family to see if my brother is unstable or not. Might as well write it public since everyone must have read the article.

I feel like it took way too long to become 18. Not that it really matters much since I've been of age already. But when someone has promised you something for that time, it makes the time go by much faster in anticipation.
The way my brother described Lufkin's Muffins & More, that shop in Diagon Alley, it left in a dire need to try some of it. I could probably owl him to get me more, but if anyone would like to try some as well, seeing that we're all stuck here, I would not mind buying a few extra items. Just not too many. We're not billionaires

"To give respect, one must earn respect."
The phrase is thrown around quite a lot, seemingly spoken by those who are being demanded of respect where they don't believe it deserves to be given, most of the time. What I can deduce from the phrase is that in order for respect to be earned, there must be another giving respect to be begin with, most likely given freely.
The meaning of respect in my opinion involves holding someone in high worth, and treating one with the same dignity and endowment as one would want to be treated. This isn't to say that respect should always be given freely at any cost, but many would find that some people do give it freely, perhaps without thinking twice of the task.
Have you ever met a stranger in need of some help and you decided to provide that aid? You might not have known that person. He or she might have never done anything for you in the past yet you still helped and in return the person gave you a hearty smile and thanked you. That would be an example of the smallest tasks packed with great respect being delivered without reserve.
Hence, the tiny little acts of kindness one gives freely eventually earn him/her respect and the same treatment from those who experience said behavior.
Regarding myself on the topic of respect, I do indeed normally give respect intentionally, especially in forms of simple politeness for my fellow schoolmates or even strangers, Also, holding myself back from saying things incredibly mean to completely annoying bints or even just keeping mum if I have nothing nice to say.
I do respect my friends and the school staff, but most importantly, I respect myself. Should anyone do something to lose my respect for them, it's a tragic experience, however, I don't believe its wise for one to retort back in a similar gesture. If one has no respect for you, stooping to their level as some form of revenge can also result in many people losing their respect for you. Keeping that respect would sometimes mean that one has to be the better person and known how to react in such a situation.

I've noticed that sarcasm doesn't seem to fit some people. I don't know if its their image or if they are just not plain funny, but unless someone has told you they like you because you're sarcastic, I think you ought to refrain from sarcasm.
There's cattiness too. Who would have known that? Most people who are usually nice are being incredibly snarky at one another for no concrete reason. Is this the first time I'm noticing? I can't imagine because I normally don't pay attention to other people, because I just like avoiding conflict, so I try not to pay much attention to people unless I think they're important to me.
I really ought to get my respect essay done, but at the rate I'm going it would probably end up being many pages long because I feel like I'll let everything out on paper, which is bad because some things are better left unsaid. Though I haven't stopped saying things that I haven't meant to. Well, I meant them in my head but I didn't mean for them to come out of my mouth.
Yet its happening. And.. why can't I stop??
